ICT student’s AI-based App launches on Google Play Store

Genius Mhirizhonga, a student at Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), realized the world was moving towards AI-based solutions when he was enrolled in an Advanced Diploma in Computer Science. As a result, he decided to develop a mobile AI app titled “Portable AI” using his skills and knowledge. Consumers can download the app from the Google Play Store right now.

With Portable AI, users will be able to perform boring repetitive tasks with artificial intelligence. Aside from that, it can respond to both audio and text queries within seconds. With the click of a button or via voice command, the App provides answers, ideas, and images based on user requests. As shown in the image below, users can also copy and paste generated responses and share them with other apps and emails.

Having been shaped into a future-ready graduate through lectures from the Faculty of ICT, Genius expresses his gratitude to lecturers for enabling him to integrate his programming and AI skills into developing tech-based Apps that can solve real problems around the world. The Faculty of ICT is an environment that pushes people to reach their full potential. I was able to reach the point of not only using technology but becoming part of those who make it because of the skills we are taught, such as adaptability and critical thinking,” said the student.

Passionate, dedicated, and focused, he describes himself as an individual who is focused and passionate. While I believe it is great to come up with great ideas, I prefer to be an executer of smaller ones. Humanity moves forward when ideas are executed, not only when ideas are brought to life. Genius once said, “If I can be better, that’s not good enough; and if I can be the best, that’s not good enough either.”.
