The Department of Health and Wellness, in the Directorate of Student Affairs and Extracurricular seeks to appoint a Professional Nurse. This is a permanent position based at eMalahleni Campus.

Critical Performance Areas

  • Provision of a comprehensive, promotive, preventative, curative and rehabilitative primary healthcare service to students.
  • Offer on-going educational training and development talks and seminars to students.
  • Patient record keeping
  • Assist the Health and Wellness staff to promote various health campaigns and projects.
  • Assist Health and Wellness staff to disseminate information.
  • Assist in compiling a standard operating procedure manual.
  • Offer emergency services to staff and students.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating the Health and Wellness programme.
  • Provision of HIV, Counselling and testing and treatment.
  • Engage in community outreach projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Three- yearNursing qualification NQF level 6 Nursing qualification with a minimum of 360 credits.
  • Three – year relevant experience in primary health care and HIV Services
  • Certificate in Dispensing
  • Certificate in HIV Management

Knowledge and skills

  • Basic life support.
  • Knowledge of clinical practice
  • Community Nursing
  • Knowledge of Health and Wellness Environment.
  • Knowledge of national and international HIV & AIDS Frameworks
  • Project Management Skills
  • Communication skills
  • Interpersonal Leadership skills
  • Proposal writing skills.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Programme development
  • Presentation skills

  • Registration with South African Nursing Council
