Emerging Management Development Programme

The National School of Government (NSG) was founded with the vision to develop “an effective, efficient, and responsive government”. A part of NSG’s mission is to collaborate with institutions such as Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).

A partnership between NSG and TUT has been formed to deliver Emerging and Advanced Development Management Programmes. Senate approved these programs as credit-bearing Short Learning Programmes (SLPs). National Diplomas and Bachelors of Science in Public Management are the routes they take to articulate.

TUT can directly contribute to the state’s capacity building through its involvement in these programmes for the NSG. Third-stream income provides benefits beyond monetary gains. Having a partnership with TUT ensures that it remains competitive in the knowledge market. As a public asset, its capacity is positioned as a national asset.

As a result of the articulation arrangements, experienced government officials are attracted to study at the university after completing the programmes. By doing so, TUT has the opportunity to attract mature students into its mainstream programs. NSG’s association with the University further enhances the contextual relevance of its instructional programs by assisting with the development of curricula.
