DHET’s New Generation Academic Programme (nGAP) is now available at Tshwane University of Technology.

Academic at TUT nGPA Journalism

TUT will establish a permanent academic post as a result of the nGAP, which aims to assist with staffing transformation and capacity needs. As a regular academic staff member at TUT, the successful candidate will complete a 6-year comprehensive development and induction program.

A candidate must meet the following criteria, specified by the university, in order to qualify for an nGAP post:

  • Show interest in becoming an academic
  • Obtained at least 70% average marks for Masters degree.
  • Be 40 years or younger
  • Evidence that you are eligible to pursue doctoral studies at the postgraduate level
  • The applicant must be willing to commit to placement at the university for the full six years of the program
  • South African citizens of color and/or women will occupy at least 80% of the positions

Critical Performance Areas

  • Teaching and learning;
  • Obtaining a Masters or Doctorate degree through participation in research groups;
  • With the supervision of a mentor, coordinate excursions, research, and community projects with industry and other stakeholders;

Minimum requirements for the following fields

  • A relevant Masters/Mtech degree in Journalism
  • At least 70% average pass for Masters/MTech degree
