Soshanguve South Campus has an Associate Professor position in the Department of Public Management.

Key performance areas/Core functions:

Following are the expectations of the Associate Professor:

  • Facilitate a high-quality learning experience by coordinating and teaching public affairs subjects/modules online, in blended or face-to-face modes by presenting lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops and student field excursions, as well as other sessions.
  • Engage in Departmental teaching and learning activities, including sharing of good practices, to demonstrate a scholarly approach to teaching and learning.
  • Students should receive constructive, fair, and timely feedback on their learning from their PFO.
  • Taking an evidence-based approach to evaluate how these initiatives improve student experience, initiate and participate in innovative subject and course level curriculum design, development and review.
  • Incorporate employability skills into the curriculum as a priority.
  • Develop and implement teaching improvement projects for subjects/modules, courses and disciplines.
  • Build relationships on an international and local level, contributing to knowledge transfer.
  • Be a member of faculty and departmental committees.
  • Whenever necessary, supervise postgraduate students.

  • Demonstrate excellence in face-to-face, blended and/or online teaching, curriculum development and subject coordination through sustained high student feedback, teaching excellence awards, or other evidence of effectiveness.
  • Achievements in public affairs demonstrated by a record of achievement

Minimum requirements for Associate Professors.

Academic qualifications and others:

Doctor of Public Affairs/ Public Administration/Management (NQF level 10)

Experience:

  • Experience in teaching, supervising, and conducting research for five years.
  • An understanding of the public sector economy and the political economy of state administrations
  • Student experience evidence from the last three years demonstrating innovative initiatives that have enhanced the student experience, along with an evaluation of their effectiveness.
  • An ability to effectively communicate with external agencies/organizations and/or the general public.
  • Supervising and/or cosupervising honours or postgraduate students is a demonstrated ability.
  • Publish outputs that demonstrate your ability to engage in scholarship of teaching and learning
