Rand Water Graduate Internship

As part of the Government’s drive to develop large-scale infrastructure, and in recognition of the public sector’s inadequacies in implementing infrastructure projects, the National Treasury, in partnership with municipalities, established the Graduate Internship Programme to build institutional capacity for the planning, delivery, and maintenance of infrastructure.

Graduate interns at the National Treasury gain practical experience and application skills while gaining the necessary work skills in a variety of infrastructure disciplines through the Rand Water Graduate Internship Programme.

Suitable graduates and unemployed graduates are invited to join the following three-year fixed term contract programmes offered by Govan Mbeki Local Municipality and Rand Water:

Discipline Minimum Qualification
Electrical Engineering: BEng/BSc Electrical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering: BEng/BSc Mechanical Engineering
Civil Engineering: BEng/BSc Civil Engineering
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) BSc Geomatics /BSc Geo Informatics/ BSc (Honours/Masters) Geo Informatics
Town Planning BSc Town and Regional Planning (Honours)
Natural Science BSc Natural Science

Requirements

To make the final selection, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A degree from an accredited university is required
  • Jobless
  • Driver’s licenses with codes 08 are preferred
  • In accordance with Employment Equity, appointments will be made
  • Citizens of South Africa must possess a valid ID card
  • Under 35 years of age (NSDS III-compliant)
  • Regulatory Councils (ECSA, SAGC, SACQSP, SACPLAN) require academic qualifications to be aligned with professional registration requirements.

Responsibilities

  • In their training programs, graduates are expected to demonstrate proficiency in all statutory council competencies (ECSA, SAGC, SACQSP, SACPLAN).
  • Applicants shortlisted for consideration must undergo assessments, security clearances, qualification verification, and submit original qualifications, transcripts, and statements of results
