  • To pass English at the Senior Certificate level, you must earn a minimum score in additional language; however, some programs may require a first or home language score.

  • For some programmes, students will be required to write an admission test in order to be admitted into the programme. However, if it’s recommended that they don’t enrol for the programme, then they will be able to take a foundation course instead which will help them better prepare for the admission test.

Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy?

  • All learners who wish to take the National Senior Certificate (NSC) General Education and Training must take one of the two subjects for NSC-G purposes.

  • Mathematics is a relevant and important subject for students who plan to study programmes that require prior knowledge of mathematics. All other programmes may only require Mathematical Literacy, which can be easily determined by looking at the DoE curriculum statements available on the DoE website.
